This was a story I wrote for a Halloween contest so it has a creepy Halloween kind of feel to it. Charlie is definitely a trickster/liar. She says to Charlie “You mean you're not a psychopath who takes girls against their will and does all manner of unspeakable horrors to them?" His reply is "I never take anyone against their will. You can thank the people of Sunnyside for that. I had nothing to do with your abduction.” While he may not have asked them to abduct anyone he is definitely an accessory to the crime in that he takes people that he knows were abducted. He also never addresses the question of whether her is a psychopath who does all manner of unspeakable horrors to them. Additionally Charlie states “I'm a big believer in being safe, sane and consensual. I would never force myself on you." She replies "It's always nice when rape is off the table." Charlie replies "It is most definitely off the table,” However he very clearly rapes her. there is use of magic/powers/etc to cloud her mind. This subverts her ability to truly grant consent. So I find it interesting that he clearly needs her to agree to things while also clearly removing any choice. And, it’s very clear that she is in trouble. He is a collector of beautiful things. He has told her she is amazing/perfect. He has been given over 300 beautiful women who have all agreed to stay with him as immortals. she has not sightied any of those women and he does not include them in the list of people living with him. . Their immortality must be granted in such a way that they are not free to enjoy it. He has indicated that he is surrounded by beautiful possessions. I’m sure their ability to consent to the immortality was non-existent.
